๐Ÿ“œ WAYPOINT LESSON

Reading Your Own Code โ€” the 5-Minute Audit

โญโญโญ advancedโณ 25 min read๐Ÿ“ Lesson 196 of 281

Before submitting, audit the four places advanced solutions die: overflow, order of operations, off-by-one, and the invariant you assumed but never tested.

The pre-submission audit

Five minutes before the deadline, do not write new code โ€” audit:

  1. WIDTHS: every multiplication or sum of maxima โ€” is the widest expression long long?
  2. ORDER: for lazy tags and DP pulls, is the compose order the one you proved?
  3. BOUNDARIES: empty ranges, single elements, the root, the last character.
  4. INVARIANTS: state in one sentence what must stay true; find the test that would break it if false.

Submitting one minute EARLIER with a checked solution beats submitting a new idea at the buzzer.
